Travel ideas: Europe

Belgrade, Serbia.

Belgrade isn’t an obvious choice, and that’s exactly the point.

24h itinerary

Check-in: Square Nine

This hotel is a blend of mid-century elegance and discreet luxury, complete with a panoramic terrace overlooking the Danube.

Midday: Kalemegdan Fortress
We walk the old stone paths of Kalemegdan, imagining ancient battles while the locals sip coffee like they own the place.

Afternoon: Museum of Contemporary Art
Across the river, the Museum of Contemporary Art feels impossible to skip—Yugoslav masterpieces housed in a brutalist gem by the water.

Early Evening: Savamala
Back across the water into Savamala. Where forgotten buildings have been transformed into galleries, cocktail bars, and everything that defines "cool" in Belgrade’s creative scene.

Dinner: Salon 1905
Dinner in a grand building that doesn’t need to prove anything. Marble columns, warm light, and a menu that mixes history with intent. The kind of place where you talk slower.

Late Night: Along the River
One drink by the water. Maybe two. The city fades behind us and we let it. Belgrade doesn’t rush the ending.

Elegant dining room with chandeliers, gold accents, and white tablecloths, illuminated with soft lighting.
Outdoor dining area with white umbrellas, string lights, people sitting at tables, and an illuminated stone castle in the background during evening.
Wood-paneled hotel hallway with a colorful striped runner rug and a room number 602 illuminated by a wall-mounted light.
